Double Major in Math
UA’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Mathematics offer a double major program allowing students to fulfill the requirements for both the math major and either the electrical engineering or the computer engineering major. Students maintain enrollment in the College of Engineering.
The double major combines curricula that already have much in common. It has significant advantages for electrical engineering and computer engineering students in providing them with a broader background in fundamental mathematics. Yet, it only requires an additional nine hours beyond the standard electrical engineering major, and six hours beyond the computer engineering major.
Students opting for the double major will have not only the practical knowledge of an electrical or computer engineer, but also the fundamental background characterized by a mathematics major. Students completing the double major will be well prepared for our rapidly changing technological world. They will also be well prepared for graduate work in either engineering or mathematics.
