Message from the Department Head
Jeff Jackson
Thank you for visiting our Web site. We are a comprehensive electrical and computer engineering department, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs in our engineering disciplines.
Our undergraduate electrical engineering program and computer engineering program are accredited by ABET. Undergraduate electrical engineering students have access, through instruction and laboratory experiences, to a wide array of subjects, including communication, computers, control systems, electronics, electric circuits, electromechanics, electromagnetics, microelectronics, materials, and power systems. Computer engineering students have access to the broad spectrum of experiences in electrical engineering and computer science courses, and the computer engineering courses have an emphasis on embedded systems. We also have formal programs that lead to Double Major Bachelor of Science degrees between computer engineering or electrical engineering and mathematics, as well as electrical engineering and physics. Furthermore, we have a department-based ECE Honors Program, which augments the University Honors Program or Computer-Based Honors Program to bring more recognition and challenge to those students with high academic standing. Our ECE Scholars program allows eligible students to complete a combined B.S./M.S. degree in five years of study.
Our on-campus graduate programs are research oriented and lead toward the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Graduate-student instruction and research facilities are available in embedded systems, electromechanical systems, and devices and materials.
All our programs are continuously improved to offer the best possible experience for students. Please browse through our pages, and contact me if you have any questions or comments about the contents or any related matter.
Jeff Jackson, Ph.D.
Head, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
